Mission: In South Carolina, one in five children lives in poverty, and estimates show that in Laurens County alone more than one in four children lives in poverty.* Generational poverty particularly adversely affects a child's educational attainment, health and wellness, and social-emotional development. Here at SCEC, we use evidence-based approaches to support youth and empower them out of the cycle of poverty.
