Did you know that South Carolina primary elections in June had only a 13.5% voter participation rate? This is the lowest turnout in over a decade!
In a democratic society, every vote counts, and election years brings higher visibility to issues and opportunities for policy change.
SCACED encourages you to take a moment to make sure you are prepared to vote! Here are some important dates and deadlines to be aware of:
October 6 - Deadline to register to vote in the General Election. Applications submitted online, by fax, or by email must be received by 11:59 p.m. on October 6.
The last day to register in-person is Friday, October 4.
October 25 at 5:00 PM - Deadline to request an absentee ballot
State law no longer allows absentee application requests to be made online or by email. Contact your county voter registration office to receive an application.
To vote absentee by mail, get your application by contacting your county elections office:

Monday, October 21 – Saturday November 2 (Closed Sunday Oct 27): Early Voting Period for the 2024 General Election
Centers are open 8:30 AM – 6 PM during the early voting period

If you have moved from one county to another, you must register in your new county to be eligible to vote.
If you’ve moved within your county or changed your name recently, update your information before Election Day to help ensure a smoother voting experience.
